Wedding Photography Pricing and Features

My style is photo-journalistic in nature, with an eye for the artistic, quirky, emotional, and unique. Even though the media are quite different, I try to find inspiration between my photo and cinema work. Photos can tell stories of their own, by focusing on certain details—an expression, a simple gesture, an object—or by capturing that perfect moment. I’m always on the lookout for that amazing shot, or a series of shots that tell a larger narrative.

There are a few options to consider when choosing a photo package that fits you best. Below you can find pricing info followed by a description and/or sample of each item, add-on or upgrade. My basic photo package includes a wedding day portrait session, 8 hours of coverage, and high-resolution, professionally edited photos on disc. Add items à la carte, or choose a premium package with additional savings.

CUSTOM DESIGN YOUR OWN PACKAGE

The “Better” package is my most popular but it may not be a perfect fit for everyone, as every wedding has its own needs. To customize your own photography package, begin with the “Basic” (which includes 8 hours coverage, all the photo editing, disc and portrait shoot) and add individual items from the à la carte section. In keeping with the “Better” and “Best” package discount rates, any package over $3,450 gets 15% off, and any package over $5,125 gets 20% off. Get an additional 10% off when you combine a photo and cinema package!! Check out the wedding cinema packages.

WEDDING DAY PORTRAIT SESSION

Krista+Dave 2 Across

Krista+Dave_Blog-1055

For most of the day I’m like a fly-on-the-wall, floating around grabbing candid shots, however, one of the main features of my wedding photography packages is a personal photo shoot with the bride and groom. It’s a chance to spend a little bit more time lighting and setting up the shots. It’s also a little rare for the bride and groom to get some privacy on their wedding day, so the portrait session is a great opportunity to relax and just focus on each other.

Many couples that I work with are a little worried beforehand about looking natural in front of the camera; I feel that it’s my job to put you at ease and create the best scenario to get natural interactions. Real emotion and a true connection between the bride and groom is even more important than lighting, composition or any of the technical aspects of photography.

HIGH-RESOLUTION, PROFESSIONALLY EDITED PHOTOS

stella+jeff_blue-1001

All photos are delivered as high resolution .jpg files on beautiful custom-designed discs. My post-processing style is very light-handed; I don’t want it to look as if every shot has been buttered up beyond recognition with Photoshop effects. Sometimes it takes more skill and time to make it look as if nothing was done at all!

BLACK+WHITE VERSIONS

B+W_Comparison

annie+jon-1001

I love black+white photos. With this upgrade I process every shot in black+white, but it’s not simply a matter of hitting a button to desaturate everything in one pass. Colours can become bland tones when converted to black and white; red becomes a muddy grey, yellow becomes almost white. It’s amazing how much you can enhance a black+white photo by pushing specific colours in the spectrum. Black+white has a unifying effect over an entire photo, and gives it a timeless quality.

ENGAGEMENT PHOTO SHOOT

Engagement shoots differ from wedding day portrait sessions in that you aren’t encumbered by such a tight schedule, dresses and tuxes, last minute changes and delays, or location choices based on a given venue. You don’t have the “wedding day stress” and can really focus on each other. It’s a great chance to be creative, too. I’m always looking for new places to shoot, or to see something in a new and unique way. Check out Daria+Mirek’s engagement gallery for an example, but there really aren’t any limits on what we can create. An engagement shoot can tell your back story or show different aspects of your relationship. Ella+James met at the University of Waterloo, in their engineering class. We spent an afternoon wandering around the campus and visited all the places with meaning to them: the classroom where they had initially met, the bubble tea shop where they had their first date. Kristen+Jeff started a new journey together in California. We toured around to all of their new favourite spots and captured a glimpse of their life during this little slice of time.

Engagement shoots are up to 2 hours long, and come with 100-200 edited, retouched, high-res .jpg files on disc, and an online gallery.

2ND PHOTOGRAPHER

2_Photographers

2_Photographers2

There are moments during the day where adding a 2nd photographer brings a lot of value. It’s not impossible to shoot a wedding as one camera-man. Experience at weddings allow me to anticipate what’s coming up, get a feel for the general rhythm of the day, and be as efficient as possible. There are times, however, when it would be amazing to be in two places at once. If the bride and groom are getting ready at the exact time, across town from each other, I can only cover one (probably the bride… sorry, grooms!). And during the ceremony there are a  few key moments when everything happens at once. My focus during the crucial moments has to be on the couple. A 2nd photographer can get a different perspective on the same moment—say, the kiss—or grab important family reactions. I strongly recommend opting for this upgrade, at least for part of the day.

ONLINE GALLERY

With this add-on, I’ll let the galleries do the talking. I select about a third of your total collection—the best-of-the-best—and post it online in a beautiful custom gallery to share with friends and family. Check out example ONE, and TWO.

PHOTOBOOTH

The Photobooth is so fun to shoot. More than just a way to get nice photos of all your wedding guests, the Photobooth is an event unto itself. People have a crazy time with the booth! I do it a little differently than some others; my booth is run by a professional photographer rather than a camera locked-off on a tripod. The results are much better, in my opinion. A real—and really skilled photographer—can suggest poses, arrange people in the most efficient positions, choose creative ways to frame shots, move in, move out, and generally get the most out of people. Either I run the booth, or one of my talented associate photographers will take care of it, depending on the package you’ve chosen (my responsibility is to cover the reception but if there’s a chance, I love jumping in and taking a few shots). Check out some super-fun Photobooth shots here.

A QUICK TESTIMONIAL

ella_Testimonial&Pic

Ella+James were a blast to work with. They were married in a very small ceremony and reception (20 people!) at Langdon Hall, a beautiful venue in Cambridge, Ontario. Their December wedding didn’t look like it was going to have any snow, that is, until the day before. You couldn’t have asked for better timing—in the summer you hope for a little sun, but in the winter you hope for that magic line between too cold, and just cold enough. The snow clinging to the branches in the above shot had fallen only hours before Ella and James arrived. Details like that can’t be faked (not without an expensive movie crew on location) so it’s nice when you get lucky sometimes. Ella wrote me: “Wow! The photos are absolutely amazing… they look like they are from a fairy tale.” I also received an amazing endorsement from Emily, her wedding coordinator at the venue: “Thank you so much for posting those photos. I cannot even begin to describe the reactions they’ve received. Each staff member that looked at them were blown away by their beauty. You truly have a talent. Hope you are back at Langdon Hall soon to shoot another wedding!”
